Dear Families of PS196,

Hope you and your family are enjoying the summer vacation. Many thanks from all of our Teaching Staff, Counselors and Security for allowing us to be part of your children’s lives.

Below is information regarding the After School Program for Fall 2017.

AS PROGRAM, You and your child can look at a list of great after-school classes on Aug. 14th, complete list of fees, rules and regulations & schedules. Register directly on our website! The after school program is available for Grades K- 5. Our program follows the DOE Calendar. We hope you find everything you need, but if you have any questions, feel free to email Maria Romero at

Registration for the Fall Semester starts on August 17th on our website at All classes are on a first registration basis. No Refunds for cancellations/changes/illness (minus the reg. fee) or changes after September 18th. Please refer to our website for ASP Policies. Grades 1-5, semester runs from 9/7/17- 01/31/18 & for Kindergarten, 9/11/17 – 1/31/18.

BEFORE SCHOOL PROGRAM, Monday to Thursday drop off starts 7:30am for Grades 1-5 on Sept. 7th & for Kindergarten on 9/11/17. Parents can use this program on an as needed basis for $5.00 per morning. Registration for the semester is available on our website.

HOLIDAY/HALF DAY PROGRAMS, The After School Program offers full day programs on select school holidays from 8:00am-6:30pm and school Half Days from 12:00pm-6:30 pm at an additional cost. Holidays and Half Days are not included in the Semester fee.

SINGLE DAY OPTIONS If there is a day during the school year that you cannot pick up your child at dismissal, we're here to help. Your child can participate in the after school program as needed. Contact us by email at when your child needs coverage or call 339-788-7797 between 9 am-2 pm on the day you need coverage. Payment can be made with check, cash or Visa, Master Card, Discover & Amex. Form can be downloaded from our website.

SCHOLARSHIP FUND The Scholarship Fund Program was conceived to open the after school program to families with limited economic incomes. The requirements for scholarship consideration are the previous year's DOE letter lunch eligibility. Students who qualify for reduced lunch (25% discount) & students who qualify for free lunch will get a 50% discount of session cost, minus registration fee & any additional fees for specific classes. Students must enroll on a full time basis (Mondays to Fridays, 5:00 pm p/u or later pick up) to be considered.

Class Offerings: Schedule will be available on 8/17: Chinese, Spanish, Sculpting with Clay, Robotics (Robo Mind Tech)for Grades K-5, Challenge Island (stem class) for Grades K-5, English & Math Enrichment Classes for Gr 1-5, Sports(Gr 3-5), Lego Building & Wii & Electronic Games, Artistic Desserts, Speed & Agility(K-2), Farm to Table (cooking class), Crafts & More, Just Dance!(K-2), Keyboard & Music Theory(K-5), Yoga & Movement, Chess Club, Hip Hop Dance!, Drama Class, Art w/Ms. Haar, Fun with Science (stem class) for Grades 3-5, Hebrew for Native Speakers, Gr K-5, French I/II, Gr K-5, Soccer & More for Grades K-5, Origami & More (K-5), Programming & Coding for Lego Robotics(Gr 3-5), Studio Arts for Gr 3-5.
