Minutes – Executive Board Meeting
Tuesday, October 29th, 2007

Maria Roemro opens the meeting at 7:30 PM. The PA Treasurer Ying-Zi Yang resigned via e mail this past week and reports that she can stay on board and holds the archives and documents in his possession until a new one is elected. It is agreed that we will hold an expedited election next week on Monday November 6,2007. Letters will be send to parents to ask for their attendance for special election to Treasurer meeting next week.
Ms Hughes reports on the needs of the school and on the various items on the school wish list that could be purchased with the extra funds currently available in the PA’s account. She explain the need for technological improvement that includes new computers and smart boards. She also reports that ELA courses will be given on Saturdays and that the Barnes &
Noble program will take place next month. She also mentions the upcoming Publishing Party and the success of the Enrichment Programs.

Ms. Catherine Katz our school Data Specialist introduces the School Quality Report and briefly explain that the tabulation methods are based in data entered in the system that allows the BOE to grade the schools’ performance exclusively relating that performance to data that comes from attendance, test performance, and that such a data not only generates reports
but also helps the children to improve their scholastic standing. Ms Koatz advocates for a technological improvement for the school that would allow the kids to be better prepared for the standardized tests.

Evelyn McManus our school Custodial Engineer is introduced by Maria Romero, Ms. McManus reports that there was a major cleaning work to do after the Halloween Party and that better arrangements should be made in order to gather the food and trash accumulated for any future gathering, she also says that no food should leave the cafeteria and that the 5th grade cookies sale should take place only in the lobby and everything should be wrapped to avoid the presence of rodents. It is discussed that the custodial and maintenance staff will be much more proactive in keeping the bathroom stocked with paper etc. Ms McManus reports that a deep cleaning have taken place at the school in lieu of the SARS scare.

Maria Romero outlines and explains each Committee’s main purpose and responsibilities.

The following Committees are formed:

Hospitality: Jody Freed, Greeg Ruppa . Sharon Kattenstein (only Fridays events).
Fundraising: Jackie Astacio, Pamela Montes, Azra Feratovic, Richard Koo.
Programming: Nancy Feldman, Beth Cameron, Brenda Zuckerman
Spotlight: Ruth Bringh

Ellen Cozangi ask for volunteers for Grade leaders and some Class Parents that are also needed for a few classes. She also would like to have 5th grade parents that can take the various activities to completion. After a few parents volunteer Ellen Cozangi explains that she will meet and deliver materials to
those who volunteered after this meeting ends.

Ying-Zi Yang our former Treasurer would like to make sure that the records reflect that she was never a signature in any of the PA's accounts and her name was never on any of them.

The meeting is adjourned at 8:45 PM
