The meeting starts at 7:30, in
attendance 35 members of the PA including the Executive Bd.
Committee.
Ms. Hughes reports that the Saturday ELA Review Program will
start this coming Saturday, December 1st and that ideally
all the children should attend at least one of the sessions.
Materials for each session is available for those children
that can not attend. Anyone in the grades 3,4 and 5 as long
as he/she is with a parent can attend all the sessions.
Ms Hughes discusses the School
Progress Report issued to PS196Q. The School received A .
She explains that this standing is compared to similar
schools that have the same demographic, social, and racial
profile. PS 196 should continue to work hard with the
Student Body, to maintain its high grades. The consensus is
that PS196Q under the leadership of Mrs. Hughes,
staff and the fine work of the teachers, offers much more
than just getting excellent scores.
Mrs. Hughes leaves the meeting at
8:05 PM.
Dennis Mannarino reports that the
current enrollment for the After School Program is 93
children, 8 of those children are scholarship funded. The
projected income is $88,017.80, the amount collected so far
is $64,557.97 from enrollment. $2,231.00 has been generated
from Wacky Fun Friday, 2 for 1, and holiday cookie
decorating event. There is a Holiday Jewelry
Workshop scheduled for December 12, 2007 , cost $15.00 per
child.
Jodi Freed would like to have a
club option for students to participate in and have a 4:30
p.m. dismissal at lower fee. She agrees to assess the
opportunities, the activities, survey the attendance and
come up with a proposal to be discussed with the Executive
Committee and Dennis Mannarino at a future
date.
Maria Romero request that the
minutes be considered for approval.
Ellen Cozangi and Giovanna
Toscano motion to accept the minutes. Lisa Feinstein
mentions that there are a couple of grammatical errors
including the misspelling of Dennis Mannarino’s last name.
Changes the minutes are approved and will be posted on the
pa website.
Chris Rupp reports the financial
figures verbally stating that she will have a full written
financial report at our next meeting as she was just given
all the documents and necessary information after her recent
election on November 5th.
She reports that the Halloween
party made $5628.00, the Bake
Sale made $561.75 and picture day revenue was $14,000.00.
These numbers are all gross.

School financial information stated above and adds that the
expenses incurred so far by the program are around $2,300
without the inclusion of the November Payroll figures.
Maria Romero requests that we
vote on the purchase of the computers and the Smartboards,
new gym equipment at an estimated cost of $3,000 . The PA
unanimously agrees on all three.

picture day was quite successful and that the fundraising
committee will be hosting a Phone Event where collecting old
cell phones will generate funds for the P.A. . This coming
month there will be a Boston Market event on December 18th.
Flyers will be distributed to all students as well as posted
on the Website.
Shari Bennet introduces a program
sponsored by Scholastic and
Microsoft that will generate funds to PS 196 every time
their Internet Search engine is used. She will bring forth
more detailed information to be shared with the parent body
at a future meeting. A Talent Show Idol in the Making –
similar to American Idol and running at the same time- is in
