Parents Association
The Membership Committee met on September 17, 2009.
In attendance were:

- Brenda Zuckerman
The following Items were discussed:
1. Kindergarten Annex.
Beena Singh will be the liaison for the Membership Committee to the Annex (K & 1) to recruit parents as volunteers and active participants in the PA
2. Class Parents
The Membership Committee discussed a policy change. If multiple parents volunteer there should be a Class Parent group with one parent communicating with the classroom teacher. Membership Committee also decided that we would ask Class Parents to have a sign-up sheet during Parent Teacher Conferences & class events for any volunteer opportunities within the PA. This will be know as “Cheerleader Marketing”
3. Sunshine Fund Will be chaired by Tracie Foo. There was a discussion to add “former students” to the list of criteria as Sunshine Fund recipients.
4. Fund Raising/Programming
The Membership Committee asked the chairs of these committees as well as the school Principal to comprise a list of volunteers needed for the 2009/2010 school year. This list will be available at all PA meetings, on the PA website and through the class parents.
5. Attendance at PA Meetings Mitzi Donefer will create a survey to be distributed to the entire school-polling parents in order to get ideas as to what will increase attendance at monthly meetings. The class that has the most survey responses will receive a free pizza party. Additionally, the Membership Committee arranged for free give-aways at every PA meeting. Every person that attends a meeting will be given one chance to win the give-away (if you bring a new friend to a PA meeting, someone who had never attended before you will receive an additional chance to win)
• This year we will be giving away:
- 3 free Wacky Fun Fridays
- 10 kids free at a Wacky Fun Birthday Party
- Free pizzas from Portofino’s
- Manicure/Pedicure
- Movie Tickets
- 2 Cell Phones
- 2 Free hours of tutoring
- Dinner at Cheeburger
- Family portrait by professional photographer
- Mets tickets
- Free month of Dish/Direct TV Network
- Dunkin Donuts coffee cards
6. The next Membership Committees meetings will be held on January 7, 2010 at 9AM
